Uh…
I had to call the credit card company today to take care of some business, and at the beginning of the call I got the "Please enter your 16-digit card number, then press pound" instruction. But then, right after the automatic girly said that, she went, "It's the button below the number nine."
Seriously?
I don't know about you, but in my opinion, anyone who needs to be told where the # button is on the telephone is not someone who should have a credit card. Oy.
that extra bit of instruction could be for their expat customers. In the UK, that button is called "hash"; "cancelletto" in Italian...come to think of it they should record the message in British English and add a third language option. silly robots!
I do enjoy your blog (from overseas where the robots aren't nearly as helpful)

I agree with comment above. I didnt know what it was called when I first moved to England, and kept making the mistake of pressing the other non-numerical button on the key pad *. After enough mistakes I learnt, you'll be happy to know.
What I find a lot scarier though is, that you dial a number and the first thing they ask you if for your credit card number...even if it's a bank. Now that's creepy. hmmmm.
