Something to strive for

From my Garner's Usage Tip of the Day:

"A master of the art of transition begins and ends each paragraph so as to make it grow out of the last and into the next; he moves so easily and naturally that the reader follows without being aware of the steps he is taking."

Adams Sherman Hill, The Principles of Rhetoric 239 (rev. ed. 1896).

My head just imploded.

well, what i want to know is who gives out this "master of the art of transition" thing? i think i got a merit badge once, but who can i talk to about "master" status, because you know it probably comes with a kick-ass t-shirt. or at least a certificate suitable for framing.

missed you oodles and so, so glad to be reading you again (i took an internet vacation)! and please note the total absence of any transition between these paragraphs. clearly, i have a long way to go to get that kick-ass t-shirt.
